What are wax melts?

Wax melts are an easy, flame-free alternative to candles, oil diffusers, plug-ins, and other home fragrance solutions. Wax melts are placed in a wax warmer, and warmed with a hot plate or light bulb located inside. Once the wax begins to melt, your room will be filled with fragrance. 

Why is soy wax better?

Soy wax is a vegetable wax made from the oil of soybeans. After harvesting, the beans are cleaned, cracked, de-hulled, and rolled into flakes. The oil is then extracted from the flakes and hydrogenated. The hydrogenation process converts some of the fatty acids in the oil from unsaturated to saturated. 

Soy wax is not only healthier for air quality, it also comes from a renewable resource, making it more environmentally friendly! Other brands typically use paraffin wax which is derived from petroleum, which is not a renewable resource. It has been claimed that paraffin wax releases toxic fumes when burnt, contributing to its fall out of favor. In 2009, a study by South Carolina State University found that burning paraffin wax gives off harmful fumes (benzene).
